Business Buddies For Refugees
There is a misconception amongst some people that refugees cannot contribute positively to their local community. Contrary to stereotypes, many refugees were successful business people in their country of origin before being forced to flee to the UK.
But, rather than just looking at past achievements, we should focus on where refugees want to go and what dreams they want to realise.
The Entrepreneurial Refugee Network (TERN) are helping refugee entrepreneurs to realise thier dreams!
Working in partnership with ice-cream connoisseurs Ben and Jerry’s, they have developed the ‘ICE Academy’ to offer early stage refugee entrepreneurs a combination of part time employment and business training. This allows them to develop their business ideas and get a real taste of what it means to be an entrepreneur.
You can become a ‘Business Buddy’ and work with one of their participants to help them develop their business idea by offering your experience, guidance and support. An ideal Business Buddy is an individual based in the UK with some business and entrepreneurial experience. You can find out more here.
Their summer programme runs from May-August 2018.
