Tailored Food takes anthropological deep dives into communities, leveraging their research to then build holistic food systems and launch nutritious, delicious, low-cost food products in partnership with local social enterprises.

Tailored Food is a lean social enterprise consultancy dedicated to building holistic food systems in countries like Liberia, China, the US, and the Congo. From smallholder farmer capacity building to guerilla marketing campaigns, Tailored is on a mission to end hunger by 2030 🌍

HOW WE MAKE CHANGE

Tailored Food were looking for volunteers to help them with Design, Web Development and Research in order to address their main Sustainable Development Goal of Zero Hunger (SDG 2).

Emma Johnson 🇨🇦

‘My name is Emma Johnson, I was born in Ireland raised in Canada. I grew up with an appreciation for learning, sustainability, and development. After studying International Development for a year and a half at King’s College in London, I transitioned to work for Universal Outreach Foundation in Liberia. Throughout that experience, I grew upon my existing skill set of photography and media work to learn more about project development and operations with a grassroots NGO.

Following that period in Liberia, I furthered my studies in Digital Media and Communications with Northeastern University and moved on to my current position as the marketing manager at Digbee, a research and ESG disclosure platform for the mining industry.

At Tailored Food, I have helped direct the development of a marketing strategy. This has included building out a marketing framework, identifying objectives, coordinating use of marketing channels, discussing events, and collaborating with the Tailored Food team.

Working with Tailored Food has provided an excellent learning chance to build upon existing marketing skills. Furthermore, the organization is closely aligned with my personal values, providing an inspiring work environment. Finally, this volunteering experience has offered a great opportunity to connect with talented and like-minded individuals.’

‘My name is Laura Hackl and I am from Austria. I currently live in the United States of America where I work in maternal and child nutrition with a focus on combating micronutrient deficiencies in vulnerable populations, often through food fortification.

At Tailored Food I have been providing input in relation to strategic partnerships, used my experience in nutrition research and provided technical expertise to further the impact of the organisation. It has been enjoyable working with a great team of motivated individuals for a great cause!’
