ABOUT

Sakonsa addresses the challenges of a lack of formal education in villages in rural India. They aim to provide quality education in these villages, including basic medical knowledge, law education, and career guidance. They also empower skilled youths by giving them the opportunity to work within their team to expand their network and knowledge ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐ŸŒ

HOW WE MAKE CHANGE

Sakonsa were looking for volunteers to help them with Strategy, Marketing, Writing, Research, Design, Finance and Project Management in order to address Sustainable Development Goals of Quality Education (SDG 4), Reduced Inequalities (SDG 10) and Partnerships (SDG 17).

We connected them with over 100 ChangeMakers globally and hereโ€™s how a few of them have helped ๐Ÿ™Œ

โ€œI HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO DEVELOP MY SKILLS AND REALISE MY POTENTIALโ€

โ€˜My name is Sriya Pamidimukkala and I am from India. I am a student pursuing my final year in undergraduate in the field of computer science. Iโ€™ve always actively participated in social campaigns from fighting for cancer awareness among children to traveling to rural villages to organise medical camps. This led me to volunteer for Sakonsa through We Make Change.

At Sakonsa I have been doing the back end support in terms of collaborations with various institutions and organizations. I have also conducted research work to identify potential organisations that work towards similar goals to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals through partnerships.

Volunteering for Sakonsa meant that I had the opportunity to develop my skills and realise my potential. Being comfortable does not mean that one should not try and experience new things, and Sakonsa gave me that opportunity. The experience also polished my teamwork skills, which is something that will help me in my professional career.โ€™

โ€œIโ€™VE MET NEW PEOPLE AND IMPROVED MY PERSONAL SKILLSโ€

โ€˜My name is Joseph Anyanwu, and I am from Nigeria. I am passionate about making change, and I believe hard work and dedication can lead us to carry out the Sustainable Development Goals. Working with youth and families are especially important to me and that is where We Make Change comes into the picture, as it gave me the opportunity to make change for the causes that I care about.

At Sakonsa, Iโ€™ve been a part of expanding the concept internationally, and in my case, in Nigeria, where I carry out and oversee local projects. The experience so far has been great! Sakonsa has increased my exposure, Iโ€™ve met new people and improved my personal skills.โ€™

โ€œTHIS VOLUNTEERING EXPERIENCE HAS WIDENED MY HORIZONโ€

My name is Lisa Cheng and I am from China. I am a recent graduate with an MSc in Finance, specialised in Fintech and Financial Analytics. I work for an international trade organisation with the responsibility of conducting research on market issues and policy regarding investment funds.

At Sakonsa I have been doing marketing work for their social media campaigns. This volunteering experience has widened my horizon and allowed me to have a better understanding of the situation that youth face in developing countries. I am looking forward to supporting Sakonsa even more in the future.
