Fighting for Gender Equality From Home
We created Change Days as online volunteering events to enable ChangeMakers to volunteer their skills and Social Enterprises to get the skills they need in a fun, meaningful and effective way in just a day.
Our Gender Equality Change Day was our first of 2021! It brought together 20 ChangeMakers with Research and Writing skills to support five of our Social Enterprise Members.
THE SOCIAL ENTERPRISES
Blink International use technology to collect and publicize data which inspires community-led organizing across Sub-Saharan Africa 🇰🇪
Bullyid provide an app that combines psychology and law principles to proactively identify bullying with an AI-analysis and support victims 🇮🇩
Garden of Hope Foundation support youth in Kenya through mentorship, entrepreneurship and leadership development 🇰🇪
Spher are building a womxn-empowering community and security application that is set out to create a better and safer tomorrow 🇸🇪
We Encourage offer a fundraising platform for individual fundraisers and NGOs for causes aimed for women and girl's empowerment, and a conversational AI tool to support and guide victims of intimate partner violence 🇫🇮
WHAT HAPPENED
Ahead of the day, the ChangeMakers were matched with a Social Enterprise based on the causes they care about and the skills the Social Enterprises needed.
On the day, they got to work! During the 4 hour session, the ChangeMakers worked in teams to support the Social Enterprises with what they needed, including developing creative ideas, business plans, market research, fundraising strategies, blog posts and a whole lot more!
At the end of the day, the ChangeMakers and Social Enterprises presented their work together, including the steps they would take beyond the Change Day to grow the impact of the Social Enterprise.
