University of East London Change Day
The University of East London is one of the UKβs most ambitious universities. They are always looking to provide their students with opportunities to make an impact. The University of East London Change Day brought together 15 students to support 4 Social Enterprises making change across the world.
THE SOCIAL ENTERPRISES
The Social Enterprises they supported were:
Cardon Banfield Foundation who respond to homelessness and those vulnerable to becoming homeless by ensuring the right structures are in place geographically, physically and strategically π¬π§
Extincts who exist to mobilise the next generation of animal protectors. Our digital collectibles game teaches kids about endangered animals and their habitats π
Garden of Hope Foundation support youth in Kenya through mentorship, entrepreneurship and leadership development π°πͺ
Leiho who connect products to the essentials that vulnerable communities are living without. From socks that help homelessness to water bottles that provide clean water - every item on our store helps someone in need π¬π§
WHAT HAPPENED
Ahead of the day, the students were matched with a Social Enterprise based on the causes they care about and the skills the Social Enterprises needed.
On the day, they got to work! During the 4 hour session, the students worked in teams to support the Social Enterprises with what they needed, including developing mentoring curriculums and researching topics including conservation, homelessness, social impact brands and a whole lot more!
At the end of the day, the students and Social Enterprises presented their work together, including the steps they would take beyond the Change Day to grow the impact of the Social Enterprise.

βEach and every day, with small amendments we can bring change for those in need. I've been inspired by others and believe that we can bring change even with just a little support.β

The day was perfect to have support to make change and, in our case, respond to homelessness whilst talking to some unique, amazing and happy people who are giving up their time to help out social justice causes!β
