Kimberly-Clark Employees Use Their Skills to Help End Poverty
How Kimberly-Clark employees supported Social Enterprises during their No Poverty Change Day ๐
Kimberly-Clark has 46,000 employees around the world who create products that help individuals experience more of whatโs essential to them. Their well-known global brands, including Andrex, Cottonelle, Depend, Huggies, Kleenex, Plenitude, Poise, Scott and U by Kotex, are an indispensable part of life for people in more than 175 countries, and they hold the No. 1 or No. 2 brand share in 80 countries.
The Kimberly-Clark No Poverty Change Day brought together 20 employees from across the world to volunteer their expertise to support 4 Social Enterprises helping to end poverty.
THE SOCIAL ENTERPRISES
The Social Enterprises they supported were:
era92 Creative who help disadvantaged youth in Africa develop skills in art, design and technology and into sustainable work ๐บ๐ฌ
MKCurvy who seek to infuse colorful fabrics typically worn in Africa into mainstream fashion with all our clothing pieces produced in Africa within a women driven supply chain ๐บ๐ธ
S4S Technologies who train landless women farmers to become Micro-Entrepreneurs, by equipping them with the right combination of technology, finance, and market; and also provide solar dryers to farmers to process vegetables and buy back processed produce from them ๐ฎ๐ณ
The Bra Recyclers who reduce the number of usable textiles going into our landfills while providing substantial benefit to women and girls escaping domestic violence and human trafficking ๐บ๐ธ
WHAT HAPPENED
Ahead of the day, the Kimberly-Clark employees were matched with a Social Enterprise based on the causes they care about and the skills the Social Enterprises needed.
On the day, they got to work! During the 4 hour session, the Kimberly-Clark employees worked to support the Social Enterprises with what they needed, including marketing strategies, financial planning, business strategy and a whole lot more!
At the end of the day, the Kimberly-Clark employees and Social Enterprises presented their work together, including the steps they would take beyond the Change Day to grow the impact of the Social Enterprises.

WHAT SOCIAL ENTERPRISES THOUGHT
โThis Change Day was an amazing opportunity to network with sharp minds and kind hearts to develop solid bones for our supply chain and marketing strategies. The simple, insightful questions asked of our team went such a long towards building a more effective and sustainable company poised for growth and massive social impact.โ
- Nwamaka: Founder, MKCurvy

RESULT
โThe Change Day provided a unique opportunity for our employees to gain consumer insights that we might not get any other way. It also allowed our employees to use their skills and experience to positively impact a Social Enterprise, and employees left the day inspired by the purpose, passion, and persistence of the social entrepreneurs they met that day โ I know I did.โ
